Anas Altikriti is CEO and Founder of The Cordoba Foundation, a British Think Tank specialised in the relationship between the West and Muslim World. He is also a founder and present Chairman of the Muslim Association of Britain (MAB).
Born in Iraq, Altikriti obtained a Master Degree in Translation studies from Edinburgh in 1993 and lectured for a number of years at Post-Graduate level at Leeds an Heriot-Watt universities; His PhD thesis from Westminster University in London was on the Institutionalisation of Islam in Britain after 9-11
A Hostage Negotiator who has helped secure the release of many hostages throughout the Middle East, a Commentator on Arabic and English media and a Political Analyst who advises governmental and non-governmental entities on strategic issues; Altikriti is a leading figure in the global Anti-War movement.
Through his work, Altikriti has established contacts with significant grassroots actors throughout the ME, including the Muslim Brotherhood, Political Islamic Parties as well as secular and liberal political trends which have a deep impact on their respective states and societies, affording a unique perspective on the question of political Islam and the future trends of ME societies.
Altikriti co-authored academic papers on political and media themes, has written numerous articles in publications around the world and has appeared in numerous films and TV programs addressing Extremism (violent and non), Islamophobia and the impact of Foreign Policies in inflaming both.
